SYNOPSIS
7000 Miles follows the story of a passionate pilot (Jo), who must return home to Hawaii to care for her ailing grandmother (Meli). Although fiesty and spry, Meli continues to get lost in her visions, struggling to put the pieces of her life’s puzzle together. As her Gran’s fragmented memories blur the lines of past & present, real & wondrous, Jo begins to suspect that Meli might actually be history’s most celebrated aviatrix.
7000 MILES is a story about two dynamic women facing different chapters in their lives who must together navigate unexpected truths that emerge from Meli's fragmented memories as she begins to confront dementia. It is also a love letter to Molokai, an untouched island of culture and community of found family.
Directed by Amy Glazer (The Surrogate, Kepler's Dream), 7000 MILES stars Emmy and Golden Globe Nominated Wendie Malick (Just Shoot Me, Hot in Cleveland) as the spirited vibrant Meli and introduces Alixzandra Dove as Jo Standish, a female aviator at a crossroads in her life. Featuring Maxwell Caufield (Grease 2) and Emmy Award Winner and Tony Nominated Juliet Mills (QB VII, Passions), the film is a family/coming-of-age feature set in 1977 and shot on location in beautiful Hawaii.

Alixzandra Dove Rothschild - Actor/Producer
Alixzandra was born and raised in sunny southern California. Starting at a very young age, she wanted to bring stories to life in unique and different ways. She began her acting training at South Coast Repertory, where she starred in the BFG, as Sophie, a role she treasures to this day. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from USC's prestigious School of Theatre, Alixzandra moved to Hawaii to combine her passions for acting and producing, while being close to her family on Oahu and Big Island.
Alixzandra founded Platinum Dove Pictures, to produce short films like Amazon’s "Lights Out", for which she won many acting awards and film accolades for her leading role. Her short films have screened in official selection at dozens of international festivals including Dances with Films, Sunscreen Film Festival, Palm Springs Shortsfest, Cannes Court Métrage, Carmel Film Festival, and at the Egyptian Theatre during Sundance.
Alixzandra can be seen in many tv shows and films including 2 Broke Girls, Aquarius, Unfriended, & Miles Underwater. She has dreamed of this film and of bringing the role of Jo to life for years.
Amy Glazer - Director/Producer
Amy’s film directing debut was based on a short story by Barry Gifford, Ball Lightning (2003) and premiered at the Locarno International Film Festival. Her feature films include Drifting Elegant, screenplay by Stephen Belber (2006), and received a rave in Variety, “First time feature Helmer Amy Glazer, adapting the San Francisco-set play whose premiere she directed at the city’s Magic Theatre, delivers an engrossing drama…sharp dialogue, performances and direction…” Her next feature, Seducing Charlie Barker (2010) penned by Teresa Rebeck, premiered at The San Francisco International Film Festival (SFIFF), and won her numerous awards including the Grand Prize Award at the Canada International Film Festival, Best Narrative Feature at the Geneva Film Festival, Best American Indie Award at the Ft. Lauderdale International Film Festival, and Best Filmmaker Award at the Jersey Shore Film Festival. The San Francisco Chronicle called Seducing Charlie Barker, "One of the sharpest comedies of the year... everything about this movie feels right."
Amy went on to co-write and direct Kepler's Dream (2016), starring Holland Taylor and Kelly Lynch. Hollywood Reporter called Kepler's Dream "a diverting family film charmer." It received the Silver Award for Family Favorite at the Mill Valley International Film Festival where it premiered. Her next feature, The Surrogate, was chosen as a San Francisco Chronicle’s DATEBOOK PICK, calling The Surrogate, "A penetrating study of contemporary urban life." It won Best Director and two Best Supporting Actor awards at the LA MethodFest. Amy's current feature, 7000 Miles (releasing Fall 2023), is about the famed aviatrix, Amelia Earhart, starring Wendie Malick, shot on location in Oahu, Hawaii.
Amy Glazer lives in the Oakland hills and is a Film and Theatre Professor at San Jose State University. As a theatre director, she has received numerous awards and laudatory reviews, including Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Awards for Best Director and critically acclaimed world and West Coast premiere productions at the Magic Theatre, San Jose Repertory Theatre, Marin Theatre Company, San Francisco Playhouse (where she was the Associate Artistic Director), Eureka Theatre, TheatreWorks, San Jose Stage Company, and the Assembly Theatre at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland.
Wendie Malick - "Meli"
Wendie Malick has graced our screens with an illustrious film and television career. She received 4 Cable Ace awards for her role in HBO’s groundbreaking comedy, “Dream On”, later gaining prominence on the small screen as Nina Van Horn, in “Just Shoot Me!” (1 Golden Globe, and 2 Emmy nominations). Malick also starred in “Hot In Cleveland”, where she and her cast mates earned a People’s Choice Award, and a SAG Nomination for Best Ensemble.
Other series include “Frasier”, “Big Day”, Good Company” and “Rush Hour”, as well as recurring roles on “This Is Us”, “The Ranch”, “Pitch” “Darrow and Darrow”, and “NYPD Blue”. She’s made guest appearances on “Billions”, “Seinfeld”, “Mom”, Grace and Frankie”, “CSI”, “LA Law, The X Files, and many more.
Malick appeared in the final season of “Dear White People”, and has a recurring role in “Physical”, and “Young Sheldon”. Animated TV credits include “Jimmy Neutron”, “Spongebob Squarepants”, “Bojack Horseman” (Annie nomination), the Peabody award-winning show, “The Owl House”, and the new series, “Conquest”.
Big screen credits include “Endings, Beginnings”, Adventureland”, “Fifty-nothing”, “Jerome”, “Confessions of a Shopaholic”, “Waiting”, “Racing Stripes”, “The American President”, “Trojan Wars”, “Raising Genius”, “Mr. Mike’s Mondo Video”, “A Little Sex”, “The Goods”, “Bugsy”, “The Emperor’s New Groove”, “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel”, “Beautiful Dreamer”, and the upcoming features: “Mack and Rita”, “7000 Miles”, and “Mother of All Shows”. Malick is on the Board of the Environmental Media Association, and the Advisory Board of Return to Freedom, a wild horse sanctuary and advocacy group. Through their charitable gift fund, A Drop in the Bucket, she and her husband, Richard Erickson, support a medical center in Congo. They live on a ranch in the Santa Monica mountains, with 2 dogs, 3 horses, and a miniature donkey.
Colette Freedman - Writer
Colette is an award-winning novelist, playwright and screenwriter. Her plays and musicals have been produced all over the world, including Serial Killer Barbie and Sister Cities, which can be seen on Netflix (Jacki Weaver, Alfred Molina, Stana Katic, Jess Weixler). She has co-produced and written a number of independent films including And Then There Was Eve which won The Los Angeles Film Festival (Breaking Glass Pictures), and co-produced the film award-winning comedy Quality Problems (Freestyle Digital Media).
Colette is also a faculty member at NYFA, Antioch University and Studio Arts where she teaches screenwriting, playwriting and novel writing.
Jen Prince - Jhennifer Webberley - Producers
Jhennifer Webberley and Jen Prince have been producing partners for ten years through their production company, Metamorfic Productions. They met in USC’s MFA film production program and have gone on to produce critically acclaimed feature films as well as several award-winning shorts and music videos. Their current award-winning feature films in distribution include AND THEN THERE WAS EVE (Tania Nolan, Karan Soni, Mary Holland) a provocative indie love story/psychological thriller with LGBTQ themes and QUALITY PROBLEMS (Chris Mulkey, Mo Gaffney, Jenica Bergere), a comedy about a family dealing with cancer. Other projects “the Jens” are working on include the coming-of-age feature MILES UNDERWATER and the award-winning short screenplay, FIRST DAYS. They recently were selected to participate in the inaugural CONSTELLATION INCUBATOR for indie producing which applied design thinking and scaled innovation to independent film and distribution to create a more equitable and sustainable entertainment ecosystem. They believe in supporting emerging filmmakers through their consulting, teaching, and mentoring, along with developing classes for places such as Studio Arts, NYFA, and University of Texas, Los Angeles. They are vocal advocates for women in filmmaking.
They have also recently produced two Virtual Reality shorts for the Beijing Winter Olympics which inspired them to begin creating narrative content for VR and to write a soon-to-be-released book series "An Indie Filmmaker's Guide to Creating Virtual Reality Content".
Deborah Glazier - Producer
Deborah is a regional Emmy® award-winning producer/writer/director whose passion for filmmaking started as an actor. That experience was integral in developing her skills and has led to an eclectic career that has spanned two continents and includes working for Tokyo Disneyland, Landmark Entertainment and Toyota Motor Company, Japan.
She has also produced several award-winning shorts that have appeared in festivals nationally and internationally, including the short film “Extra” winning Best Director at the Women’s Comedy Film Festival in Atlanta and Best Ensemble in Houston. Although Deborah has her feet permanently planted on the island of Oahu, she is a former private pilot earning her long-distance cross-country solo wings on a flight to Kitty Hawk!
Raymond Wood - Editor/Producer
Raymond is a film and commercial director with a lengthy background in post-production and visual effects. His latest film “1st Summoning” was released theatrically in 2019. His recent co-producing credits include Joseph Cross’s directorial debut “Summer Night” and the award-winning and highly-acclaimed independent film “Holden On.”
Morgan Jackson - Aviation Consultant
Morgan, or Captain Coconuts as he’s playfully referred, is a Medevac Pilot in Kailua, Hawaii and flight instructor at South Pacific Flying Club. He has accrued over 1400 flying hours and lives by the moto “life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all." He continues to support women in aviation and inspires his daughter to fly the skies as well.
